Diane paints exclusively in oil, savoring the rich buttery feel of the paint, the texture of the canvas, even the smell of the paint.
She is drawn to still life because it is a way to illuminate what some would consider ordinary objects. Her still life paintings begin long before paint hits the canvas. She has collected many interesting pieces through the years, more recently she has been using objects such as take out containers and chopsticks, coffee cups, or fast-food wrappings in a symbolic way or with a humorous twist. Her compositions and use of dramatic lighting elevate these everyday objects to that of art.
