I have sewn since I was a little girl. My mother got a new sewing machine when I was nine and I got her old straight stitch and my passion was born. In junior high school I traded my machine for my grandmother’s portable zigzag machine.
I graduated from Virginia Tech with an Apparel Design Degree in 1970. Since then I have designed and made clothes of all types ….my favorites were the wedding gowns and prom dresses. I love to watch their faces as the dresses come to life.
Dolls have been my constant companions, as we traveled In Europe as a child(I lived in Germany from 1952 to 1957). I got a doll from each place we visited or the places where my Dad traveled.(I have over 50 now!) I made dolls for my children and their friends as they were growing up.
For Christmas in 2013 my husband gave me a four-day doll-making class with Charlie Patricolo, which was the start of my new passion and the birth of my Sassy Ladies.
