Linda Spence Karaskevicus was born in New Jersey, the fourth of eight children. As a teenager she studied with artist Carolyn Smith, who quickly saw her unique talents and invited her to an Andrew Wyeth exhibition in Philadelphia, PA. The event made a strong impression on her and deepened her love for the arts. As an adult, she studied with several accomplished artists including the late Narcissa Weatherbee and portrait artist Floyd Torbert. Through classes at the University of the Artist in Philadelphia. There she gained valuable lessons in composition and color theory.
She has recently found a passion for painting Carolina coastal scenes. Acrylics allow her to work more quickly, resulting in a spontaneous brush or painting knife application. Her painting style is impressionistic realism.
Linda K has received numerous awards and is a member of the Waterway Art Association (Past President and Secretary), Brunswick Arts Council, and Art Association of Southport, NC. Recent shows include Sunset Vision of NC, 2023 Waterway Art Association, and Franklin Square Art Gallery's Spring and juried Summer shows in Southport, NC.
