Hebald was a mid-century modern and classical sculptor who specialized in figurative bronze works. He is known for his ability to convey movement, both in the body’s form and in the fabric’s movement. He was born in NYC and studied, and later taught, at several NYC art schools. Twenty-three of his works are displayed in public in and around NYC. His major work, a 220 foot, twelve piece Zodiac Screen was made for JFK airport. At the time it was the largest such sculpture in the world. The Charles R Wood Foundation gifted these pieces to the Hyde Museum in NY to support museum operations. They came to us through Blanchard’s Auction in NY.
