Rich was born in Uniontown, PA but lived most of his life at the Jersey Shore. He earned a Bachelors Degree in Art and has been painting all of his life. He was named Class Artist in kindergarten! He was mostly in oils and pastels. He is a versatile painter, having used many media and tackling many subjects, but his favorite and most successful paintings have always been of the coastline, seascapes, and sky.
Rich and his wife Diane moved to Pinehurst, NC five years ago, from Cape May, NJ where they owned and operated a gallery showcasing their own work and a guest house for 20 years.
After his move to Moore County, Rich won the 2017 and 2019 Lee Barrett Peoples Choice Award and the 2019 First Place Award in Oil Painting in the Arts Council of Moore County Fine Arts Festival.
