Born in Japan, Asoma won a scholarship in school that allowed him to study in Paris, where he was greatly influenced by Impressionists’ and Post-Impressionists’ use of color, pattern and design. After Paris, he moved to the US and eventually settled with his family in Garrison NY. There he was greatly influenced by nature. His bold color choices are evidence of the US art world’s influence on him. He also drew inspiration from his Japanese roots, as seen in his asymmetrical compositions. Nature, seen in every painting, was his true subject. “Resting” came to the gallery through O’Gallerie Auction in Portland Oregon.
