Bryan Michael Hughes is an author and lifelong vocalist. After having told stories for years on stage, he found fulfillment in recording written family anecdotes. This led to writing fiction in earnest in 2021. Since then, he has completed five novels, a short story collection inspired by his readers, a coffee table book, and now his debut children’s book – Chloe the Curious Conch Shell. Bryan’s writing offers delightfully complicated characters and fantastic settings. He highlights themes of self love, overcoming challenges, and positive mental health.

Inspired by Bryan’s mother-in-law, Andrea, the story for Chloe the Curious Conch Shell was initially a poem written after observing her at the beach. Andrea’s enthusiasm for shell hunting was contagious. Every single one–broken or not–was beautiful to her. Believing this was a story that needed to be shared, Bryan approached Samantha, who immediately agreed to illustrate the story.
