South Carolina painter Diane White is being featured as the gallery’s Spotlight Artist from July 1 through September 1. Proficient at both landscapes and still life works, she considers herself a painter of contemporary realism. She says, “I paint exclusively in oil., savoring the rich buttery feel of the paint on my brush, the texture of the canvas, even the smell of the paint. I am drawn to the still life by the way the light falls on ordinary objets, illuminating them to draw the viewer into the painting. May of my still life pieces begin long before I set foot in my studio. Through years of combing antique shops and flea markets, I have collected many interesting pieces that find their way into my paintings.

Diane has recently been incorporating ordinary objects into her paintings such as take out containers and chopsticks, nautical items, and even toys. She has been juried into several national competitions with the Oil Painters of America, the Salon International, National Oil and Acrylic Painters’ Society, and the AmericanWomen Artists National Competition.
