Oil painter Rich Flanegan is the Spotlight Artist at the gallery from July 15 – Sept. 15. Best known for his detailed beachscapes and coastal oil paintings, Rich says, “I try to capture the mood of the scene and moment in time that made an impression on me. Somethings it’s the force of the surge, the cloud formation, the wind, the light playing on the water or the sand. I focus on the light on and shadow, the color and values, and the small details of the scene that impressed me.” Rich has earned many awards including the 2017, 2019, and 2023 Lee Barrett People’s Choice and First Place awards (2019 and 2020) at the Arts Council of Moore County Fine Arts Festival. Rich and his wife, stained glass artist Diane Flanegan, live in Moore County, NC. Years ago they lived at the Jersey Shore when they owned an art gallery and provided art services to the Cape May community.
