Debanjana Bhattacharjee

Feb. 1 – March 29, 2025

Born in Mumbai, India, Debanjana moved in Myrtle Beach in 2015. In 2020 she was the curator for the Postcard Art Exhibit and has earned numerous awards and honors including 2024 Artfields, 2023 Piccolo Spoleto, and third place in the 2022 Seacoast Artist Guild Fall Show.

Fired: Artistry in Clay

March 15 – April 19, 2025

Reception March 15, 2 -4 p.m.

Fired is a show and sale of all things ceramic. Clay is a material of infinite possibilities. This juried show explores what North and South Carolina artists are doing with it. Functional and non-functional pieces of art are represented, featuring traditional to contemporary techniques. Artist Spotlight

RL Thomas

April 14 – June 14, 2025

R.L. worked in advertising as an illustrator and designer for many years. He founded his own ad agency in the 80s and finally began painting full-time after retirement. At the age of 69, he went back to graduate school at Radford University, studying watercolor under renowned artist Z.L. Feng. The eternal art student, R.L. has become collected and respected throughout the country.

This juried show of North and South Carolina artists explores the physical, emotional and conceptual limed that shape our lives. The work delves into themes of both connection and division, offering a poignant commentary on how we seek to both belong and stand apart. Spring Show

This is always a popular event, featuring works in oil, pastel, mixed media, watercolor, acrylic, photography, and more – all by some of the most talented artists in the area. An especially exciting part of the Annual Spring Show & Sale is the Art Raffle where guests can purchase tickets to win original pieces donated especially for the Art Raffle.

This invitational show of Sunset River Gallery artists features only small paintings and leads into the gallery’s Summer Art Market on July 18 & 19.

Works by Chantal Tomiello

Chantal is a French-Canadian born artist who currently resides in Raleigh. Even as a young child, she always had a talent for drawing. Although her path did not lead her to be a full-time artist, she has always yearned to paint. Over the years, while living her traditional life, she has carved out time to paint…first with watercolors, then in oils and now acrylics.

About Sunset River Gallery

Located in coastal Brunswick County, NC, Sunset River Gallery caters to both area visitors and a growing local community of full-time residents seeking fine art for their homes and businesses. Featuring works by over 100 fine regional artists including Betty Anglin Smith, Marcus McClanahan, Janet Sessoms, and Richard Staat, among others, the gallery is well known in the area for its selection of oil paintings; watermedia; pastels; photography; hand-blown, stained, and fused glass; pottery and clay sculpture; turned and carved wood; unique home décor items; and artisan jewelry.

There are two onsite kilns and five wheels used by the gallery’s pottery students. The gallery also offers ongoing oil/acrylic and watercolor classes as well as workshops by nationally known instructors.

The gallery’s carefully curated selection of investment-grade 20th century fine art is one of the largest in the Carolinas. Current inventory can be found in the gallery website’s 20th Century Artists section. It includes works by Wolf Kahn (1927-2020), Raimonds Staprans (1926), Angel Botello (1913-1986), Vladimir Cora (1951), Fritz Scholder (1937-2005), Ginny Crouch Stanford (1950), and two bronze sculptures by Milton Hebald (1930 – 2010).

In 2023, Sunset River Gallery acquired Cordier Auctions, a premier auction house, which regularly holds estate and consignment auctions of fine and decorative art; coins, sterling, and fine jewelry; real estate; antiques, firearms and militaria, and more.
