Sunset River Marketplace features exhibition of small and miniature artworks

Mighty Miniatures opens at Sunset River Marketplace art gallery in Calabash, N.C. on Wednesday, Oct. 8 and runs through Saturday, Nov. 21. The collection features pieces measuring from two-inch square to eight by ten inches in a range of media, including glass and clay among the oil and acrylic works. According to gallery owner Ginny Lassiter, “In a gallery this large, small pieces can sometimes be overlooked, so I really wanted to showcase them. Miniature paintings can be exquisite. And I was able to include some pottery and glass pieces that may surprise people.”

Participating artists include Nancy Hughes Miller (oil), Joyce Volmer (oil), Marie Kasper (acrylic), Ed Fitzgerald (oil), Ginny Lassiter (acrylic), Sue Coley (acrylic), Ortrud Tyler (acrylic), J.J. Brown (fused glass), Courtney Tomchik (clay), Denise Riddle (clay), Jamie Futera (clay), Cathy Johnson (oil), Ruth Cox (oil) and Elaine Bigelow (oil). An oil painting by the late Ramona Bendin will also be included in the show.
