Cary, NC artist Nancy Hughes Miller will set up her oil painting studio right here in the middle of the gallery! What a great opportunity to watch an accomplished oil painter at work! Nancy’s art offers a contemporary, fresh look at the landscape that provides a calming influence on her viewers’ moods. After graduation from North Carolina State’s School of design, the artist worked as a graphic designer. Now a full-time painter, she remains influenced by her multifaceted education, which included classes in figure drawing, photography and art history. She says, “Inspired by beauty in the landscape, I seek to capture a bold yet quiet impression of everyday nature – as the colors of sky, earth and water converge on the horizon. She explores color and light, shapes and forms to create a contemporary landscape in a style that’s uniquely her own.
Susan Sims-Pritts, executive director of Brunswick Arts Council, will also be at the gallery during the Saturday Studio event. She will have membership materials and is ready to answer your questions about how the Arts Council serves the County’s population and helps to provide quality experiences in literary, visual, and performing arts.
